A Message From Miss Duda

Good Morning, I hope everyone had a nice long weekend and you were able to put school things aside for a little while.
This weekend I caved and turned on our AC in the house, I don't handle muggy weather well (it does unspeakable things to my hair).
Here are some Memes to brighten up your Wednesday.
As we start wrapping up this very bizarre school year, I think it's important to take time and reflect on some of the personal and professional challenges and successes we have encountered. Take a few moments and celebrate all the accomplishments of you and your students this year. Reflecting can be a powerful mindfulness activity that helps ground us.
As always I am continuing to have individual meetings with students and parents and connect with outside counselors. Please let me know if you have further concerns about a student or family.
I had a transition meeting with one of the River View Counselors regarding our departing 4th graders. We discussed 4th graders that were being seen by me (individually or in group counseling) or are seeing an outside counselor that we have a Release for, any 4th grader with an SST or frequent parent contact by myself and any student that needed frequent pupil service intervention/support.

For Teachers
Good Morning,
Can you believe that another week has passed.... It feels like yesterday that I was sending out my last weekly communication.
A few reminders: I am continuing to reach out to our student's outside counselors that are using telehealth and schedule weekly sessions with students and parents.
Please let me know if you would like me to come to a google class meeting and present an activity or lesson.
I have a meeting set up with Stacey Heindal (5th grade School Counselor at River View) to discuss specific 4th graders that have been on some sort of plan or received regular social emotional support from me. We do this yearly to ensure a smooth transition with the best wrap around support. If you have a specific 4th grader in mind that you would like me to bring up with Stacey please reach out to me so I can make sure they are on my list.
If you have a couple minutes take a look at this article on taking care of teachers mentally.

For Teachers:
Thank you for continuing to have me at your class meetings. I have continued to do lessons and activities if you would like me to do that please let me know.  I am continuing to schedule one on ones with students and their families to help support them during this time.
If you have 3 minutes check out this this article on de-escalation tools (you can try these on your own kids too)
As the weather gets nicer by the day I want to challenge you to do something outside.
Moderate sun exposure is good for:
  • Enhancing Mood
  • Boosting Vitamin D Levels
  • Improving Sleep
  • Reducing Stress Hormones

Message From Miss Duda

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. One week is not nearly enough time to celebrate you.
The words "Thank You" seem so miniscule to how I truly feel towards you all, but I'm going to use them anyway. Thank you for all the time you put into our kids and families, all the late nights grading and lesson planning, all the extra time you put into making your classrooms a welcoming place for kids, all the extra hours away from your own families because the 20+ kids in your class are depending on you, for all the sleepless nights due to the worries you have about a student, for the support you give your fellow educators and many many more things. I am honored to work with such a strong team.
A few things to make you smile today.
Enjoy Jimmy Fallon singing to you today.
